The skin of the deer Mayan legend

The Mayans tell that was a time at which the skin of the deer was different from as we know today it. In that time, it had a very clear color, for that reason the deer could see itself with much facility from any part of the mount. Thanks to it, it was impresoned easy for the hunters, who appreciated much the flavor of their maet and the resistance of their skin, which they used in the contruction of shields for the soldiers. For those reasons, the deer was very persecuted and was on the verge of disappearing of the Mayanb.

But a day, a small deer drank water when it listened to strange voices; when turning around it saw that he was a group of hunters who shot his you shoots with an arrow against him. Very scared, the musk deer ran as quick as their legs were allowed it, but their pursuers catched almost it. Just when it shoots with an arrow it was going to hurt it, it slipped and it fell within and hidden cave by scrubs.

In days, the animal healed and already it coul go away of the cave. One took leave of the thee geniuses, but before it went away, one of them said to him:-It hopes! You still do not go away; we want conceders a gift, widens which you wish more. It thought it awhile to the musk deer and later it said to them seriously:- The one that more desire is than the deer we protected of the men, you can help me?

- Clear that yes- the geniuses assured. Then they accompanied, it outside the cave. Then one of the geniuses took a little earth it threw and it on the skin of the deer, at the same time as another one of them asked to him to the sun that their rays changed of color to the animal. Little by little, the skin of the musk deer stopped being clear and it filled of sports, until it had the same tone that the Earth thet covers the ground with the Mayab.Then, the third genius said:- To start off of today, the skin of the deer will have the color of our earth and with her it will be confused. Thus the deer will hide themselves of the hunters, but a day they are in danger, will be able to enter at the most deep of the caves, wiil find them there nobody.

- The musk deer was thankful for to the geniuses the favor that did to him and ran to notify to its companions.from that day, the skin of the deer represents the Mayab: its color it the one of the Earth and the spots cover that it are like the entrance of the caves. Still today, the deer feel gratitude towards the geniuses, because by the gift that they gave them many of them managed to escape of the hunters and still they anhabit the Earth of the Mayans.
